I couldn't be a part of an organization that discourages creativity--I'd get myself fired or quit pretty fast.

But all is not a bed of roses there either. Some organizations I've been in didn't exactly beg for creativity either. Rather, it was a function of whether ideas or people held sway. If ideas hold sway, it means creativity has a fighting chance.

Another obstacle are passive aggressive organizations and individuals. These are cases where creativity appears to be welcomed, but you can never get any action on the idea.
